AHHHH

Summer is in full swing here at the Studio.  Lazy summer days on one hand...CRAZY show schedule on the other.  Just when the classes slooooww waaaaaayyyy doooowwwnn,.....I have taken to the road FINALLY to see the country and to sell my art.  Today I will try to fill at least 6 canvases with scenes of Colorado for my July trip... then I will be off to the pool...well...Kiko may make me weed a row in the community organic garden that we have going first...then I get to be a pool bum.  I can't see the ocean as much as I want to..but Kiko's pool is a great second choice for saving my sanity and keeping my homicide button at bay.
I LOOOVE the feel of sand in my toes
This is where my soul is at peace.... my beloved Beach!!

This is my absolute favorite pic of my daughter Caitlin.
She too can sit for hours and just dig in the sand
I have to finish a wall of canvas today...then to the pool for some more sunshine and tan lines.  Hope you are having a fantastic Father's Day Weekend!!!

Happy Creating!!

It is the closest thing to the beach I have here... LOVE my pool time. My phone doesnt work there...it is like therapy to my soul to just lay on a raft and work on nothing but my tan..or my morning hangover..lol   .LOVE it out there...

This is the view from Kiko's pool.  Not the ocean...but it will work for now

We had a Mystery Tour bus come to the gallery

We had a mystery tour bus show up at the gallery a few weeks back.  These things are CRAZY.  The people book the trip and get on a bus with a bunch of other people they dont even know AND have noooooo idea where their vacation will even take them..lol.  BRave right.

Diane Montague is a travel bus tour agent type thingy...( not her formal title I am sure..lol)  She put us on the schedule to help entertain the tour....I think she is pleased with the results.

The bus pulls us with a huge group of Seniors to paint with me....FROM SOUTH DAKOTA!!!  In typical Kathleen fashion, I had asked Daph at the Mercantile to send down some wine for the event... THEY LOVED IT.

Drinkin some Vino
Starting the painting
Melinda's Grandaughter was also helping teach class!!
They loved my gallery
Too FUNNY!!!
A little more work to do
The Finished  Product!!!

These guys were so much fun.  Hope to see another group in the future.  Thanks to Melinda, her grandaughter and to Diane who helped make the day a success..and of course Willow Springs for getting us the perfect wine!!

Get away from the computer now and go do something beautiful!!

Two Days In A Row... Holy Crap

I feel my muse coming back... you know.. the really obnoxious one that is so funny milk flies out your nose with little to no warning... My kids are at their dads for the summer and I am on ISLAND TIME NOW BABY!!!!   WHOOOHOOOOOO!!!!   oh.. did I say that out loud?  lol

Anyway.   I still need to catch you up with the shows and all that stuff.  So here is some more pics and some funny stories.

I have the travel bug so badly now that I am applying for shows all the way through April of next year....gonna see the country one art show at a time.

So, I do this show in the Power and Light District a few weeks back right.  Kiko and I are sitting the tent when this little boy walks in..(no he is not a toddler....I am thinking 21-23 years old, but I am old enough now to think that everyone who has not seen 30 yet is a baby)

Anyway... this boy says "  OMG I LOOOVE that geranium painting... I want that one."

I say okay, I will take it off the wall when you are ready.

he says... OH NO,,, I dont have any money... but if I did, that is the painting I would buy.

I giggle to myself and say okay.  He then asks me why one of the paintings has more orange in it that the other (he is talking about both geranium paintings now)  I really want to tell him it was because I ran out of orange paint and didnt want to make more... but ..teeheee... said..I dunno... guess I just wasnt feelin the orange so much on the second one.    At this point of the convo...three ladies walk into my tent as well.

He then goes..Do you do commissions?   I say YUP YUP... He says.. I want you to paint me nude...FROM THE FRONT..SO ALL THOSE WHITE BOYS CAN SEE HOW WELL I AM HUNG... ..... REEEAAAAAAALLLLY was my next blurb...which led to the giggling... He says... I AM SERIOUS...I say I bet you are... He says... You dont understand... WHEN I GET ARRESTED...those white cops are rubbin themselves alllll OVER ME getting a good feel.  Which leads to him rubbing his own hands all over himself right there in front of God and the rest of us in my tent.  I get lost in the convo at this point because I am stuck on the WHEN part... WHEN I GET arrested... not when I GOT arrested... ......He is still talking... I am totally stuck and noticing the other laughing... he then gets mad and leaves the tent... Then one of the gals waiting says to me ...WHAT in your tent would lead him to believe you would do that sort of thing ESPECIALLY after telling you he could not afford a 95.00 painting... THE END..LOL

More palm trees!!

LOVE these two paintings.. and he was pretty easy on the eyes too.. lol

This was for their son and was also their first real art purchase..
Makes my heart happy to know that I was their first...teeehee

This set of palms went to Roswell NM

These two paintings went to India

Look Out Summer... Here We Come

I have been busy busy BUSY!!!  Painting and painting and painting trying to get ready for the next run of shows that I will be headed to. So here is what is going on in the loopty loo of all things Kathleen.... I have to tell you about the two shows that I have done...the summer road trip... the plans for the rest of my summer... the show schedule... and post pics of the mass chaos that I seem to bring with me to every stop along the way.  PHEW... I am gonna need another trip at the end of this summer to recover...I am thinking Cabo San Lucas BABY!!!!

First... my son got his drivers license... SCARY!!  I am seriously gonna have to take zanac every time he gets behind the wheel.  He is not too happy that it is a Missouri license and not a beloved Texas license...but that will come in time.

Okay, so I was on TV three weeks ago and haven't even blogged about it yet... lol.  Ya, I know.  Well, the first TV gig was a two hour spot on the morning show for Channel 5 News.  Most of you  know I have the attention span of a drunk fourth grader... so you will understand that having to be quiet in the studio for two straight hours nearly killed me.  I wanted to run hot laps around the entire building between commercials because we could NOT make ANY NOISE at ALL...  But being on TV was fun. I now want my own show...teeeheee.

HAAA!!!   I am painting on TV!!  Seriouly GOT to get my own show...
Being on TV is really a trip!!

The lovely Kelly Jones interviewing me.

This is the studio for the Channel 5 News Room

Soooooo... after my first TV apperance that started at FOUR AM... I was off to my first real art show in the Power and Light district of Kansas City.  We had to set up the booth and get ready .  I had noooo idea what to expect but it went REALLY WELL for me there.  I will do that show every year that I can.

This is one side of my booth right before we opened
I just love this wall!!
THen there was the flower wall
Two words  to describe that weekend A MAZING!!! Well worth the hours put into it to make it all happen!!!

Hope your summer is off to a fantastic start.

Here is a rundown of this month so far.... I am judging the art show at The Mushroom Festival in Richmond Mo this weekend... I am also the guest artist there. COME SEEE ME THERE!!! SUPER EXCITED about this...except for the damn diet I am on which will provent me from eating an entire funnel cake behind my kids back this year...bummer..... ahhhh but I have lost 17 POUNDS in 25 days... so who is complaining really.

Then two more weeks of crazy painting to get ready for the Howard Alan Event at Power and Light in Kansas City the third weekend of May.  Then more painting and more painting and more painting...

Did I mention that the lovely Kelly Berkey is IN THE HOUSSSE!!!  actually Bought a house eight minutes from me..(of course I timed it..escape routes are very important ya know)  so she could be here foreveaaaaa with us.   LOVE LOVE LOVE that crazy woman... my only regret is not getting to see the look on her old bosses face when she found out... PRICELESS I am sure.. teehee.

Oh ya..if you are gonna want summer camp for your kiddos this year at the gallery.. the dates are July 16-20th... and you better give a shout asap because space is limited and it is filling up FAST.
